What is self-exclusion?

Self-exclusion is a tool that blocks you from all licensed gambling operators in a country. When you register, every licensed platform is legally required to close your account and refuse future sign-ups under your identity.

🔒
Mandatory for operators
Licensed operators are legally required to honour your exclusion. They cannot accept bets from you and must close your accounts.
⏱️
Temporary or permanent
Most systems offer periods from 30 days to lifetime. You can re-register after the exclusion period, usually after a cooling-off review.
🔑
Free and direct
All national self-exclusion registers are free of charge. You do not need a middleman — register directly with the national system.
⚠️
Licensed operators only
Self-exclusion covers licensed operators only. Unlicensed offshore sites are not covered — always play on licensed platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does self-exclusion apply to foreign gambling sites?
No. Self-exclusion only covers operators licensed in your country. Unlicensed or foreign sites are not legally required to honour your exclusion. This is one of the most important reasons to only play at licensed operators.
Can I reverse my self-exclusion?
This depends on the country and chosen duration. Most systems do not allow cancellation during the exclusion period — this is intentional. After the period ends, you can usually apply to remove your exclusion, but there are often waiting periods and verification steps.
What happens to my money when I self-exclude?
Licensed operators are required to return your balance when your account is closed due to self-exclusion. Contact the operator if you have an outstanding balance that has not been returned.
Can I self-exclude in multiple countries at once?
Yes. You can register with the self-exclusion systems of multiple countries simultaneously. For example, if you play on both Dutch and UK-licensed sites, you can register with both CRUKS and GamStop.
Is self-exclusion free?
Yes. All national self-exclusion registers are completely free of charge. If anyone asks you for money to register your exclusion, that is a scam.
